I've been toying with doing a movie inspiration post for this movie for the longest time because it is one of my favorite movies of all time (yes, I have many but still, this is a contender). The only thing is the movie I'm referring to, Heathers, was done in the 1980s (specifically 1988) so the hair is big, the shoulder pads are popping, and the scrunchies are ...scrunchy. I don't really care for big hair or shoulder pads, that sort of 1980's look I don't fancy much and it doesn't really translate to modern looks although a lot of the things they wore could easily be worn today - I mean tights, blazers, skirts... those things are in many a wardrobe.
If you haven't seen Heathers... look it up, watch it! (I'm pretty certain it is on instant viewing on a few sites including netflix). Basically there is a girl named Veronica (played by Winona Ryder) who is in a popular clique of girls in school all named Heather. She doesn't care for her friends much and meets a cute boy named J.D (Christian Slater) who convinces her to "prank" some of the popular kids by murdering them. So yeah, it's dark, it's easy to relate to, it's full of quotes, and it is surprisingly funny.
I decided to stick with the primary color scheme the girls wore in the movie and here we go.
Red: Heather Chandler (played by Kim Walker)
Quote: Dear Diary: Heather told me she teaches people "real life." She said, real life sucks losers dry. You want to fuck with the eagles, you have to learn to fly. I said, so, you teach people how to spread their wings and fly? She said, yes. I said, you're beautiful.
She's a beautiful dictator and this is how I would see her dressing today:
It's a bit vampy but I can't help myself. Red and black always seems to translate to "vamp" to me but I loove red and black so *shrugs*.
Green: Heather Duke (played by Shannen Doherty)
Quote: "I prayed for the death of Heather Chandler many times and I felt bad everytime I did it but I kept doing it anyway. Now I know you understood everything. Praise Jesus, Hallelujah"
She wants to be the leader but secretly hates the leader.

She has seen the reality of life within the popular clique and wants out but doesn't know how to get out.

Hey there, as most of you know, actually I think at this point Aliens from another Universe would have caught on to the fact that I am obsessed with 'Mad Men'. So it should not be much of a surprise to you that this inspiration post is about some of the ladies of 'Mad Men'. I'm going a little bit out of order of appearance in the series with the characters but I think you'll forgive me. I just bought 'Mad Men: Season 4' and listened to the commentary for the entire season so these three characters are the fore front of my mind.
Joan Holloway/Harris is known for her curves, her strut, and she knows how to dress in the best way to show off all her assets. In the 4th and 5th seasons she does start to wear more 1960's patterns and colors but she does tend to stick to solid colors and fitted dresses. I'd kill for her figure and her closet.
Next is the career driven, creative, and adorable Peggy Olson who has been growing into her style as the seasons have gone on. She dresses professional but of the time.
Lastly, for this post anyway, is Megan Calvet/Draper. Megan is the epitome of a gorgeous french actress from the time period and her outfits are vibrant and young. Megan has a killer sense of style and another wardrobe I would not mind having. I think all of the pictures below are from Megan in season 5 but you catch her style drift.
So how did I do? I plan on doing another 'Mad Men' inspiration post with the ladies from the series that I left off so I'll see you in that post.

Hey everyone, I'm bringing you another inspiration post and for this post my inspiration is Summer Finn played the adorable, bambi-eyed, and always fabulously dressed Zooey Deschanel in the movie (500) Days of Summer. I know I say this every single inspiration post but this is one of my veryberry favorite movies, I put off seeing it until it was on DVD because I'm not typically a huge fan of the romantic comedy genre but this movie really struck a chord in me and I've now seen it over dozen times.
(500) Days of Summer is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), believes in true love and the girl, Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel), does not. They meet working at a greeting card company and soon start seeing one another. It's a movie about love but it's not a love story. I took almost all of that verbatim from the trailer because as you are all painfully aware I kind of suck with movie synopsis. The movie is from Tom's point of view and it shows his struggle to understand and cope with the complexity of his relationship with someone who sees love/relationships/the relationship he is in a completely different light than he does. When I was younger I found myself in a very similar situation to the characters in this movie so I found the characters easy to relate to and it almost goes without saying that being in a one sided or complicated relationship is hard on the heart. If you haven't seen the movie I definitely suggest it, not only is it a great movie with wonderful cinematography, cute costumes/ characters, funny lines, and moments that push you over the tears-for-years cliff but it also has one of the best soundtracks!
I'm carrying on like I usually do so to summarize Summer Finn's wardrobe it would be lots of blue, the director did this intentionally because he was inspired by Zooey Deschanel's eyes. She wears lots of cute dresses, cardigans, and has a somewhat vintage vibe to her outfit choices (which yes, I would say probably describes Zooey's wardrobe but I personally love her sense of style).
I hope you like the outfits, I found so many things I thought would work perfectly that I had a hard time narrowing it down but I think I did well, the only things I would add are probably a pair of dark black tights and a basic dark cardigan because they go with everything and Summer's character wears them several times in the movie. I hope if you haven't seen the movie that you'll rush your butt out to rent it/buy it. As always I created these sets using Polyvore, feel free to follow my finds and sets HERE. I'm sitting here listening to a few songs from the movie and I'm feeling myself getting sucked into the movie again, I might just have to root through my boxes and put it on.

It is another movie inspiration post, yay, click your jawbreakers together girls. This weeks movie inspiration is the one, the only - Jawbreaker. This movie is one of my biggest guilty pleasures, I remember riding my bike to Blockbuster to rent the movie and pick up some care bear gummi bears repeatedly through Summer break, my brother and I were obsessed with this movie. It's a movie based in high school but in the way Hollywood does it, so no one carries books and the entire student body looks legal drinking age. The movie is about a clique of popular girls who pull a prank on one of their friends and accidental kill her. It's a dark comedy reminiscent of 'Heathers' starring Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, Judy Greer, and Pam Grier. The girls have a killer sense of style (no pun intended) and pretty much walk around looking like their weapon of choice, candy. Not only do they have fabulous clothes but fabulously decorated bedrooms and a pretty awesome looking prom with the musical stylings of The Donnas. The soundtrack is one of my favorites as well, I can't even tell you how many times I've listened to it, I'm surprised it still works. So without further delay, onto the show:
First off, there's Courtney (Rose McGowan), whose character is described as "satan in heels" and she has one of the most (in my opinion) enviable wardrobes, not to mention some fabulous lines throughout the movie. I love her characters style, it could be described as a mix between 50's innocence and 90's glam goth.

Next is Courtney's henchman and "a legend in her own little mind", Marcy "Foxy" Fox (Julie Benz) whose style would make any Stepford wife drool with envy.

Then there's Julie (Rebecca Gayheart) who decides popularity is not enough to keep the friendship going with the two remaining girls after her best friend, Liz's death.
Liz Purr (Charlotte Ayanna) is only briefly shown before her untimely demise but is described as "teenage perfection."
Last but not least is Fern "Vyette" Mayo, a geeky girl who uncovers the girls deeds so she is rewarded with a killer makeover and popularity by her very own Dr. Jekyll, Courtney. She spends the majority of the movie dressing like Barbie on acid and is played by the talented, Judy Greer.
It is one of those movies you just have to watch once (or in my case 949204 times), it is the1990's in all it's glory, you just can't miss it. Anywho, I hope you like the outfits, don't forget to comment below and words to the wise; don't eat a giant jawbreaker while watching a movie in the theater, it might make your boyfriend contemplate changing aisles.

Hey there, my unsuspecting guinea pigs! Get ready to face the wrath of my excessive free time...don't get scared, it's just my Polyvore addiction rearing it's two headed lizardy goodness. Sometimes I create outfits based on some of my favorite characters from movies and television and I thought, hey, that might make a good post (possible feature?). Maybe? No? Shut up and get in the van?
The inspiration for this post (and polyvore sets) were the characters Rebecca and Enid from one of my favorite movies, Ghost World. Now if you haven't seen Ghost World... what is the matter with you? (I'm joking but still sort of judging you, still joking). The story basically revolves around these two social outsiders played by Scarlett Johansson (Rebecca) and Thora Birch (Enid), who have just graduated high school and are trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives, who they want to be, and who they want to be around. The movie is hysterical and also stars Steve Buscemi. The girls have a pretty unique sense of personal style that also demonstrates their evolving sense of self throughout the film. Rebecca plays the more seemingly approachable one and Enid is more of the eclectic. I'm no Hemingway so I apologize for the lackluster descriptions.
I'll start with Rebecca, whose style in the beginning of the movie consists mostly of shorts, boots, and simple shirts but as the show goes she starts wearing more feminine, classic, vintage inspired things. I know it is a small picture but I adore the green dress she wears in the picture above (bottom, right corner).

I have to admit, I had more fun figuring out outfits for Enid, it is mentioned in the movie that Enid goes through "phases" with her style, including a punk phase and a "little old lady" phase. I like how both girls have their own sense of style, they dress how they want to dress, and I feel like they don't let other people or their friends influence what they wear - they wear what they wear because they like it.
Anywho, I hope that if you haven't seen the movie I've inspired you to see it. I'd also like to know if you guys think maybe I should make this a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc feature here and also I finally signed up for it so, Follow my blog with Bloglovin.
