Today is Mary Blair day on Google (I'm sure a lot of you have noticed since google is kind of ya know... well known) to celebrate her birthday and artistic talent. You might not know her name but you know her art in such films as 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Cinderella', and 'Peter Pan'.

I really love her use of color, it has a very dreamy like quality to it. Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Cinderella were all some of my favorites as a kid. That reminds me, I need to buy Peter Pan on dvd. I'm no expert on art but I figured I had to share this. Happy Birthday to a wonderful lady with such a talent to make children daydream everywhere. I think Disney movies have shaped so many of our childhoods and continue to make us feel like the wide-eyed children we once were no matter what age we are now.

I love this description "It’s as delicious as feasting on rainbows" of her art.

I just had to share.

R.I.P Mary Blair.

That's really cool - I'd never heard of her before but, of course, her art is so recognizable.

Her art is so dreamy, and such a big part of Disney. I love how her art is full of fantasy but isn't too bright and overdone. It still has a dark edge to it. Idk, hard to explain. But she gets the job done. :)

@Courtney, I had never heard of her before either but the minute I saw her art I was like "oooh" because so much of it has been floating in my mind like a cloud since I was a kid. I always thought it would be so fabulous to be an artist and have that talent to draw but it isn't something I've really tried to do.

@Arielle, I love your name by the way, so pretty. I totally agree with you that her art had a slight dark edge to it, I really like that about her art. I love how she did the sky and the way she drew the clouds in particular.

Thanks for the comments ladies :)

Gosh I had no idea that was Mary Blair work in Alice in Wonderland! Then again I was about 8 and not quite as cultured back then so I can't blame myself haha :) I love her work, it's like seeing everything with dreamworld fantasy glasses on. I'm glad google featured her. She deserves to be more of a household name!

(and just because it's making me laugh the word verification is burperela :P haha)xxx

@Mrs. Dee, Thank you. I agree, I was really pleased that Google took the time to honor such a creative woman. So many artists go unknown but I'm glad they made a point to celebrate her birthday and her art. Her art will live on for many generations to come. Lovely lady Mrs. Blair was. Thank you very much for your comment <3

@BunBun, I know me neither and I love 'Alice in Wonderland'. Hehe yeah as a kid you just see pretty images, as a kid I just figured Walt Disney did it all. Silly. I couldn't agree more with your description, "dreamworld fantasy glasses"! Haha I've gotten a lot of interesting word verifications lately. Thank you so much for your comment.
