Looks like it is about that time and that can only mean one thing... I really need to shower and get my butt to the liquor store! One really should plan their alcohol ahead of time but since I'm the Queen of Procrastination (capitalized to recognize official title) I put it off. The best Holidays are spent tipsy, this is priceless advice, you'll thank me later.
I finally did do some Christmas shopping, I have the cramp in my calves to prove it, it's as if I was sprinting about the stores which trust me, I was not.
Oh crap, but I didn't pick up anything to wrap them in... CRIKEY.
I still feel like I should have bought and found more stuff but hopefully everyone will be relatively pleased with their gifts. I had quite a bit of fun in the toy stores/toy aisles looking for gifts, I'm quite certain I have more fun with it than 95% of children; kids today... don't know how great they have it. I will share pictures of my toy aisle adventures soon but since the interwebs is usually dead today and tomorrow I figure I will wait. My cats seem a bit excited for the holidays as well, they've been playing with a forgotten toy all afternoon.
I hope everyone has a lovely holiday full of joy, alcohol, baked goods, loved ones (human and furry kind alike), gifts given and received, and that everyone gets to and fro' safely. So no dangling off the banisters in a sombrero after too many glasses, or if you do, safely have someone below taking video and send to me asap.
From me and Gizmo, Happy Hoolidays!
disclaimer: I had to add this video because it cracks me up and I wish I had drunken relatives that did shit like this.

I feel as if I've been gone for awhile although it really hasn't been all that long. I haven't had the best luck in the internet/computer and health arenas over the last week or so. Has it been two weeks? I don't even know, I can't keep track at this point - what am I saying, at any point haha. Our main computer had a virus and we haven't been able to get the internet working on it since then, it is a real bummer, luckily (and quite obviously) we have a back up computer (plus ya know, my laptop that I never use and my phone... oh, such a hard life...). My boyfriend is pretty good with computers and keeps trying to fix it but it just doesn't seem to want to work, I personally am clueless when it comes to that sort of thing. On top of that I haven't been feeling very well at all, I think I have conjunctivitis, all I know is I've had eye and head pain consistently for the last few days but it may be an allergy thing. I don't know, I rarely go to Doctors since I don't have insurance. I feel like I'm always sick and always mentioning so to you guys, I'm sorry loves.
Moving on, this is my 50th post and I really wanted to make it special but instead it is just me doing a whole lotta bitching, I'm sorry, its just been one of those weeks. BUT I've been cooking a lot, baked a little, and was going to share pictures of my creations but the computer is holding the images hostage at the moment. I made some cheddar chive muffins, some really tasty meatballs, and a lots of pasta.
I've watched and re-watched some really good movies and tv shows lately including 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', 'Insidious', 'Bag of Bones', 'Horrible Bosses', 'Cry-Baby' (a re-watch), and one of my guilty pleasures 'Jawbreaker'. I really, really loved 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and 'Insidious'. I didn't have the highest expectations for 'Insidious' but it really was awesome and actually scared me, I was going to post a picture from the movie but almost all the pictures I found were scary. The ghost bride lady? *Shiver with fear* Plus, I mean 'Insidious' has Patrick Wilson in it, I was disappointed that he didn't show his famous keester in this movie though, not that there was really an appropriate time for him to show his keester but he has a nice butt and I enjoy looking at it. I'm just saying, you can't say you don't agree? If you don't agree then just move on with your weird self. Joking, don't go! <3 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' was quite literally one of the best films I've watched in awhile and I kinda also had the hots for Mikael Blomkvist, he was just such a tender character, I just wanted to hug him. 'Bag of Bones' was predictable but I like Pierce Brosnan as well. Horrible Bosses was hysterical, I love Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston was really amusing in this. Look at me and my constant boy talk, I'd be a Drape, and one from Baltimore even. 'Cry-Baby' (John Waters! Such a kooky, fun, and hysterical man) and 'Jawbreaker', what can I honestly say? They have both been favorites of mine since I was little, or reasonably little since 'Jawbreaker' came out in 1999.
My head is really killing me so I think I'm going to cut this here. I will however share pictures of my Mothers Christmas tree from 2008, I got some really great pictures that year and I love looking at Christmas trees. I hope everyone is well. I still haven't bought anything for my little sisters! I know, I need to get on that.
Christmas morning, presents under the trees and stuffed on the sides. I get up every year before everyone else and take a picture when the presents are all out and under the tree. |

The lovely Anita Riot of Thick Threads tagged me in her Christmas List this year and being one that never passes up the opportunity to make lists, covet things I can't really afford, and share my desires, I couldn't have jumped at the opportunity any quicker (I even leaped over the cat). This Christmas list is suppose to be my top 5 most wanted items so I'm going to attempt to stick to those parameters. I have to say, I keep wishlists year around on multiple sites, I don't know why, it's not as if I have some secret Santa on call at all times but a lady has to know what she wants. I mostly keep these wishlists (and meticulously maintain them) because I forget what I want since I have the attention span of a 3 year old, but that is neither here nor there... or waiting in a box at the front step! Anyway onto the Top 5:
1. ASOS Curve Dress with Button Front
The Perfect Little Black Dress with a Film Noir type vibe. |
3.The Perfect Lace & Tulle Skirt
I have been absolutely dying to find the perfect lace and tulle skirt that I can pretty much live in. Also top contenders are Eshakti Lace and Tulle Skirt and Eshakti Layered Tulle Skirt, I couldn't narrow it down to just one because any of these would do. |
5. Samsung DualView TL225 Digital Camera
This list was actually harder to do than I had imagined it would be since I have so many things and so many variety of things I'm really wanting at all times. Hello my name is Rachel, I'm a shopaholic. I also wouldn't mind having these Lulu Spiked Ballet Flats that I can imagine would be perfect for work, running errands, general everyday wear, and kicking ass if need be. I know, I'm a cheater with my sneaky 6th item.
Anywhoodles, I hope everyone gets what they wish for this year and that if you go to purchase items from your list that they carry the item in your size/color! Dammit. Grr, I have such a hard time finding size 11 shoes sometimes, curse you huge feet.
Now I'm going to tag a few lovely ladies to see what they want for Christmas too.
Laura of The Blog of Worldly Delights
Amber of The Girly Bird
Courtney of Sartorial Sidelines
Arielle of Humble Pie Vintage
Tracy of Chubble Bubble
Is it time for White Russians, sneaking handfuls of Christmas cookies, and wrapping oneself in Christmas lights yet? I'm more than ready.

In my last entry I promised (and since my word is my...word) I would share pictures of ring(s) I tried on last week but I figured I would just post a picture of the one that was my favorite. I apologize that my fingers look like bangers minus the mash, and that my nail-beds suck (do a little dance, quote a lil' movies, get down tonight). But I have been thinking, although diamonds are very shiny and it was fun to see my boyfriend squirm -- not because of his fear of commitment, but because of his fear of paying $450.00 for a ring that just lays around on my finger -- I have decided once and for all I don't want an expensive engagement ring. I always thought it was a waste, I mean if you have the money I'd say go for it, but that is money better spent on something more useful like furniture, appliances, or 22.5 (not sure what you will do with that lone slipper...) pairs of zombie slippers. I still want a ring, just something more practically priced. Either way this is a pretty ring, it reminds me of the moon or the sun in the opening theme of 'Game of Thrones' (no? just a little bit? "I don't see it"... whateve!) minus the protruding animal heads of course, "Um yes, why doesn't this ring come with a stag?."
I couldn't find a corresponding picture... I.still.see.it!
I had plans this morning to drink hot chokolatte and watch 'The Little Mermaid' (for the billionth time) but I got distracted by the vastness that is the internet. I'm pretty sure I know how 'The Little Mermaid' ends though so I think it can wait.
I had a really swell time hanging out with Summer on Saturday. I got a few lushie things from Lush, including Snowcake soap and Three Gold Rings (what is with all the ring references?!) bubble bar. Basically lots o' almond and vanilla scents, I really was hoping to pick up a Marzibain bubble bar but they didn't have it. My only issue with Lush is I feel really hesitant to use anything I buy or am given from there because I don't want it to disappear into the land of suds and bubbles. Plus, I feel as if my shower is not worthy of such luxuries? Haha no seriously, I keep stashing my Lush items for when my fiance and I have our own place *shakes head.* I have a Fizzy O' Therapy bath bomb that my friend gave me about a year ago, it just smells so good, I don't want to use it yet. Don't tell my shower, the shower and I have enough problems already. Everything I bought smells so good though, you can even smell it when you're sitting on the couch in the living room.
Look how cute 'Three Gold Rings' is, when I first pulled it out to show my boyfriend he was like "Looks tasty" and I had to assure him it was not, I mean I don't think it is but I don't want to find out. I didn't come to this potty mouth overnight - oh no, I had my mouth washed out with soap as a kid a couple of times, so I'm a tad familiar with the taste of soap. I guess I keep my potty mouth on the dl (low down, down loww) here in blog land but trust me in person it is... fucking nuts. C'mon, I had to. What is thee holiday season without some booze and a mouth full of swears (and possibly soap if you happen to be 11 years old or have the strictest parents ever), am I right?
After Lush, Summer and I walked around for a little bit and then decided to go to a Mongolian buffet she had a Groupon for in Bethesda. At dinner I loudly shared with her the story about me thinking I had glass in my ass at Re/Dress in New York and I'm pretty sure some nosy people next to us were listening and laughing at me because of it but I regret nothing! Bacon jelly beans, see below for explanation *shiver*! After I consumed my daily ration of garlic (I love large amounts of garlic) for the day we decided to head back to the mall to go to Old Navy. Summer, being the smart shopper that she is, had a bunch of coupons so we both left with something. I got some basic black leggings, a $5 purple shirt, and $8 pajama bottoms. I had to actually return the pajama bottoms because someone (that someone is moi) wasn't smart enough to check if the pants were on the right hanger and my chubby booty isn't going to fit into a size small. When I returned to le Old Navy to exchange said pajama pants on Monday, I saw a few things I hadn't seen over the weekend that I'm really wishlisting.
I have no idea why I numbered this wishlist. Oh well.
After Old Navy we went to The Hallmark Store, of which I don't usually haunt but Summer had more coupons. She gave me one of the coupons so I bought some Yankee Candle lip balms, yeah, who knew the candle people were venturing into lip balm territory? I very rarely pass up a lip gloss/lip balm and this seemed too weird not to try. Great thinking really, if it's weird than apply it directly to your lips! The lip balms come in these cute little candle jar shaped containers and smell divine. If they tasted as good as they smell, I'd swear by them and nothing else. Then again as an adult, you really shouldn't be licking your lip balm off your lips every
After Old Navy, Summer and I sat in her car and talked for a good 5 hours. I enjoy having a good conversation in a parked or moving vehicle, that sounds wrong, I mean literal talk...Officer.
Since then I've watched some more 'X-Files' but I have been slacking once again, finally found out what happened to Sophia in 'The Walking Dead', and caught up on a few Bitchin Kitchen episodes (so much ridiculous fun over food). Does anyone else watch 'Bitchin Kitchen'? Yes, other cooking shows make you laugh out loud but it usually isn't intentional...
COCKTAIL TIME! I'm just saying, Ms. Sandra Lee likes her cocktail time.
Other cooking shows don't have killer wardrobes, hysterical episode themes, and odd babydoll placement as Nadia G does in Bitchin Kitchen. To make a long story short watch 'Bitchin Kitchen', dammit.
Last week I went to Panera with my boyfriend, some time has passed since Panera and I have been able to see one another, mostly because my boyfriend doesn't like Panera so I reveled in the moment and... have slides. I don't have slides, I have crappy pictures taken on my couch <add applause track here>. I know Panera is the same all over the country but I MUCKing love the asiago roast beef sandwich and on this fine visit I tried the chocolate mint crinkle cookie and yumyums, I didn't want to leave. Speaking of food, I'm hungry, eating something other than nilla wafers is probably a safe bet to make.
I'm quite amused by the fact that every single picture I take and share of myself is of me sitting on my fanny. The smirk is something I've come to realize I almost always do when I'm taking pictures because I feel absurd and because I'm a smart ass and... I REGRET NOTHING. That isn't true, I do regret the time I got duped into eating bacon jelly beans. I regret even more that I got tricked into *cough* doing it a second time... I'm brilliant and I know it. At the very least, during the second bacon jelly bean incident, the minute I put it in my mouth and realized I had done it again, I had the good sense to spit it out like an angry Viking in a pub "WHAT IS THIS GOAT SHI..." kinda thing. I don't even like jelly beans, I don't know how I let this happen twice, whhhy? WHY, lack of common sense? I'm an easy mark I suppose, don't take that literally Legolas. Moral of the story: don't ever try bacon jelly beans and most importantly, don't take candy offered to you by your "friends" - especially if that candy is baby pink colored! I'm having flashbacks and shuddering at the thought, it left a horrible taste in my mouth for days.
Well now that I shared that lovely story with you, I think it is time for me to go. I'm sorry but Smirky has got to eat something. Listen to Annette Hanshaw and forgot all about my candy misadventures.

I wanted to share this image because it is one of the very first photographs of a person taken with the daguerreotype process of photography invented by Louis Daguerre. Louis Daguerre was born November 18, 1787 and this year google honored his birthday and invention. The Daguerreotype was the Polaroid of that era taking only one picture at a time, this process had a ten minute exposure so it did not capture the traffic and only captured people who were standing long enough to have their images captured. How amazing it must have been to see some of the first photographs of a person and place that until then had only been seen with the eye or painted with a brush. How lucky we are these days, we can search online for anything and everything. Hell, I've done street views on google maps for cities I've never been to. I know this means I have too much free time on my hands, I'm well aware.
How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was kind of a normal day for me as I wasn't feeling too well and stayed home instead of driving the hour and 1/2 to my mom's house. So I stayed home to cuddle with the kitties and watch too much netflix. I think I might have undiagnosed asthma but until I actually go to a doctor and not just rely on internet diagnosis, which can make anyone feel paranoid, I can't be certain. I'm exhibiting a lot of the symptoms and have been experiencing coughing and chest constriction almost nightly for the last few days but it could just be that I'm a bit dramatic sometimes when it comes to feeling out of sorts. I've felt out of sorts, physically, for awhile now though.
My fiance/boyfriend/partner (since I'm always switching around his title) had to work Thanksgiving - he works every holiday *insert sad panda here* - and was stuck at work all day with bad catered food so when he got off work we went to one of our local places for hot chocolate and dinner. Or should I say "Hot ChokoLATTE". I've had some hot CHOKOLATTE today as well. I've also had some wine, it's all about the excessive amounts of beverage today, sha-yeah (You may also want to refer to the above evidence of tea drinking from a different day)!Yes, I may be feeling the tiniest amount of toastiness from the wine at the moment, just a teensy amount.
Besides my googling and excessive beverage drinkin' I've been watching these two rebels in their X-File Adventures on Netflix. Oh netflix, how I adore thee? Netflix has all 9 seasons available on instant viewing but I've been a bit of a slacker (as usual) and only gotten as far as Season 2 episode... episode... I don't know what episode I'm on?! Oh Mulder, I think I've been visited by little green men who have stolen my memory and brain function, come and rescue me! Seriously, how many men can be named Fox? Only one! Rrreow (Funny tidbit, my option to use voice to text recognizes "Rrrreoww" as "How are you?"). Yes, if you follow me on twitter you'll know I said something about Mulder being a Fox, but yadda yadda, it is still true isn't it?
I watched The X-Files on and off when I was a kid but not regularly, I didn't have much commitment to anything as a kid except cleaning and organizing my barbie townhouse (I would seriously dust and wipe down my toys, I
"This is one of the most random posts..." I know.
I have yet to do any Christmas shopping but because I'm a broke ass no one really expects presents from me, mainly just my little sisters who I try to buy gifts for every year. They are at those impossible ages, you know what I mean, where you can no longer walk into a toy store and pick something up (and play within the aisles yourself \m/). My little sisters are 15 and 12 so I suppose clothes are the best option, anyone have any ideas? I'm 26 and you can buy me toys, just putting the word out there =D
Belt and Cardigan: Target/ Wallet: Hot topic/ Paper Monsters by Dave Gahan cd: FYE/ Limitless DVD: Fye |
"Sandworms! I hate em' myself", I require these shirts or else...someone may get hurt. Don't you read the newspaper?! 13%!
On Tuesday, my boyfriend and I met up with his friend Kevin for dinner. This was my first time meeting Kevin and I really enjoyed his company, he was a joy to talk about skipping school, women and their shoe obsessions, and future plans to jump into fountains whilst under the influence of a little hooch.
I had steak and crab cakes that I quite enjoyed, even more so because it was $3 crab cake day, how can you beat that? I don't typically like seafood but it was a pretty good crab cake, even my picky eater boyfriend liked it.
I spent another evening in the company of:
I left something out of my loot roll-call!
I picked up these fabulous, adjustable strapped boots from Target and I have to say, I think I might be in love. Although I think I might need to break them in a little because they do rub against my heel a little bit. I hope that will go away or we may need to have a talk.
Tomorrow I have plans to hang out with my friend Summer who I haven't seen in awhile, so I'm looking forward to that. I have more wine and hot chocolate to guzzle down, more Scully and Mulder sexual tension to witness, and my general usual ridiculousness.
Well, well, this has been quite a random post (that is the style here at honeysuckelle) - I really wasn't sure what I would make this post about, mainly just a general update and I suppose you got that... the wine is wearing off so now the shame kicks in (jokesy). I have more late night meal making to do - I know, we eat late, the joys of third shift. Next post I'm hoping to share some pictures I took while trying on some engagement rings... I just tried them on for fun and to give my Fiance an idea of what to eventually get me/end-uber-girl-moment.
I'm off to make burrrrrrrrrritos, emphasis on the rolling of the R. I will talk to you crazy kids soon, I leave you with a picture of a very important meal:
C'mon it's a meal, I mean it has dairy, dough, sugar, chocolate...maybe it doesn't count as a nutritious meal but I love me some cannolis.
Oh, before I forget, 'The Walking Dead' - my questions, comments, and concerns: Are they ever going to find Sophia? If something bad happens to Darryl, I refuse to watch any further. I'm glad to see Shane has his hands busy with a non-married lady. I do have to say I'm enjoying this season more than last, although I'm disappointed in how the female characters are being portrayed, I feel like they are being written very one dimensional. Anyone else watching 'The Walking Dead'?
Goodnight moon walkers. I love this movie.

I don't know where the time goes, I mean it is already almost Thanksgiving and it feels like Halloween was a mere hour ago. Speaking of Halloween, I never even made a Halloween post! That is a travesty if I've heard (read) one, especially considering my love for the holiday. I didn't actually dress up for Halloween so I guess Saxy Saxophone man from 'The Lost Boys' will have to wait until next year (or perhaps just a really slow and hyper filled day).
My Halloween was very low-key this year, my fiance and I went over to our friends Laurie and Jason's where we all chatted, ate pizza, and watched absurd movies. Halloween was also my 3 year animalversay with my fiance and we celebrated quietly at home on a separate day. No wild Motley Crue type parties this year (not any year really lol). The past few weeks have been rough and we haven't really felt like celebrating all that much since one of our best friends is going through a divorce and had to move to Florida. We were very sad to see her go but at the same time I'm happy for the new beginning for her and her children. This always seems like a stressful time of year for my fiance and I, around the end of October I look upon the calender and think "Blast you Winter, you are a bandit of happy."
For my animalversary (twas a present) and also for my sanity, I have luckily acquired a new game to obsess over and take out my seasonal aggressions on. It is pretty much a remake of a game I've played before with some minor changes and a different protagonist but is ultimately about: killing zombies. It marks the return of Frank West from the original.
I also got 'Water for Elephants' for my animalversary, I love me some vintage Circus action. Besides the element of killing zombies, I also get to put Frank in absurd outfits to amuse myself with like what I got my dude in right now: a Hula girl outfit, go-go boots, sports fan face paint, and a viking helmet - what a dashing fella. Get that outfit ready for your next Zombie Apocalypse adventure. Does anyone else play video games? Which ones are your favorites?
For Halloween I also saw 'Paranormal Activity 3' which was to be expected, I didn't really care for the twist at the end although a few things associated with it were quite scary. Has anyone else seen it? The part with the babysitter (babysitters, always the innocent victims) scared the bejesus out of me. I also saw 'Immortals' in 3D and D-BOX (where the seat moves with the action) which was really cool, I kinda wish that it went throughout the entire movie though. I accidentally turned my seat off at one point too for like maybe a minute or two, I didn't realize it till I had until I looked over at my fiance and he was moving. On the subject of visual entertainment, Henry Cavill, what? *cough* I visited my Dad yesterday and watched Season 2, episodes 1-8 of Boardwalk Empire. I love that show, I wish we had HBO dammit. I've heard some people comment that the show is slow paced but I have to say I don't really agree, I feel like it has a lot going on at any time. I've always been fascinated by stories of organized crime/mobsters although at this point they haven't really morphed into "mobsters" per-say. I really like the addition of Owen Slater played by Charlie Cox, he is quite meow! I know he isn't really Irish but I'm a sucker for the accent he uses in the show. Anyone else watch the show?
The day we saw 'Paranormal Activity 3' we had a really good dinner at Genghis Grill, of which I thought I took pictures of (here is a picture from the previous time we went with Jason's friend, Jamie) but I did get talked into a $5 frozen margarita so I blame the tequila. Tequila always does things to me, even in small quantities, I don't (typically) climb on bars and do a little dance like Pee Wee Herman. But anytime I get a little tipsy on tequila, I sing the song and act out that scene in my head.
While we were on the way to the movie theater, I was still humming the tequila song to myself and noticed a brand new Pinkberry location. I literally screamed out "PINKBERRY" in the car and after a little convincing of the Fiance, stumbled in with my low alcohol tolerance self and chatted up the super friendly 10:00PM Sunday Pinkberry crew. They have pomegranate seeds now! I was quite elated.
We've been eating really good food the last few weeks actually, we made a few trips to a local diner that I'm a fan of, went back to Maggianos, and had a great deal of yummsey Thai food. I love thai iced tea! I've made it at home and can never get it to taste the way they taste in the restaurants, I know I'm not using the right type of tea but I can't seem to find the right black tea to use.
Ode to the Thai iced tea. Can you tell I'm hungry at the moment?
The weather over the past week or so has been erratic, about two weeks ago it was bone chilling cold and then for a few days this week it was upwards of 70 degrees outside. Monday in particular was so lovely, we drove to Historic Leesburg with plans to walk around and take pictures but of course my stomach started to hurt so instead we just drove through and I attempted to take pictures.
You would think this was the day I had tequila based on how the pictures turned out but it is hard to get decent shots dangling outside a moving vehicle. I risked life and limb for this post! I'm totally kidding, chihuahuas dangle out the window more than I did.
I attempted, again, to take pictures of myself to post here and this is how it turned out... but then again I didn't really try in prime locations with good lighting, nor do I ever like pictures of myself taken by anyone else. I swear I wear other colors than black by the way. The whole posing for pictures thing makes me incredibly uncomfortable and I rarely like pictures of myself, I'm not that fond of this picture either but I really wanted to show my new nifty scarf tying skills ("that's totally not a skill" uh huhhh). It is really frustrating feeling like you can't stand the sight of yourself, I wish I wasn't so hard on myself all the time.
Anywho, I haven't been shopping for clothes/shoes/jewelry much over the last few weeks but I did get a new shirt and belt from Target a few weeks ago that I really love.
I really like the colors and it is perfect for the colder weather we should be experiencing, although even today was warmer than normal for November.
I love this bright shiny belt and it is a good length too, they also have it in pink and silver. I'm considering going back to pick up the pink one. Sorry for the cat hair, everything here is covered in cat fur, the cats love trying to attack this belt by the way so if you pick up this belt you have been warned of the feline interest.
I hope everyone is well, I don't have much planned for the week, especially since my car is at the shop for much needed repairs and I'm not sure when I'll get it back. I hope to post more often than my non-purposeful habit of every two weeks. I've had a post in mind for a few weeks that I've yet to get around to.
